Hello Y7!
Today we looked at what it was that planners hope Leicester’s Ecotown will have.
Your homework task is to design a logo that helps you to remember what these features of an ecotown are. You can use the example below to help you. Can you think of anything you think the planners might have missed?

You can also download the cards we used in the lesson here.

Hello Y7!
To help you to comlete your task on how your geographical imagination of Rushey Mead has changed, you can use the following links to help you.
How are peoples’ wishes different? Do they change depending on where you live in the country? Does age or gender matter? What do you want? What would you change? What is acceptable and what is unacceptable?
A team of geographers aim to find some basic patterns to show what people dream for and where. It will also discover what you think is most unacceptable in life and if some parts of the country think that kissing in public is more acceptable than others….
You must be in Britain and in KS3 (Years 7, 8 or 9) to take part in this research. The data collected will end up playing a part on some of your geography lessons!

Hello Y7! Some people have emailed me about your first homework task so I thought I would stick a little reminder on the blog.
In lessons so far we have been looking at what geography is actually about. In a simple way, geography is the study of the Earth’s surface and its people. Some people find it helpful to split the subject into two parts, human and physical geography.
Physical geography is about the natural world. These are the natural things in the world that people have no control over. So that could be everything from mountains to rivers and lots more in between!
Human geography is about the things in the world that people have created. That could be
everything from the places we live to the money we use to buy goods.
The world around us all is a mixture of both human and physical geography. When you look out a window you can see some things that are natural (physical geography) and some things people have put there by people (human geography). Soon, we will look at how human and physical geography are linked together.
Your job is to write about the physical and human geography in a place that is important to you. You can download the help sheet by clicking this link.
You can always email me what you have done and I’ll check over it before it is due in to see if you are heading in the right direction.
