Forced Migration

May 13, 2008 · No Comments

Hello Y8!

Here are some questions to help you structure the work on forced migration for  that you are completing for Mr Dada…

(1) Where is the counrty you are reporting on? ( a map would be good here!)

(2) What is causing the migration in this place - who is involved?

(3) What are the effects of the migration?

(4) What do you think will happen in the future?

If you have any problems, or would like someone to check your work, make sure you come and see Mr Dada or Mr Renshaw.

Hello Y8! As part of your investigation into the causes and effects of refugee movement in different parts of the world, some classes thought it would be a good idea if we created a post that had useful weblinks. If you find a website of use, register with wordpress and post a comment on this entry with a link to the page you want to share.

Y8 Migration

March 14, 2007 · 4 Comments

Greetings Y8! Today we had a rather splendid discussion about migration! The first job was to identify what migration is and what push and pull factors are… easy! We then had a much more interesting discussion about the difference between an asylum seekers, refugee’s and illegal immigrants. Some of you wanted the link to the man in the chair photo.

What I’d like you to do for next lesson is take a look this site

Click on option to open a new map and select “displacement”

I’d like you to answer these questions

(1) What does the map show? (hint… click “interpreting the map”)

(2) Where in the world does displacement seem to be highest?

(3) Is there anything that suprised you about the map of displacement?
