The factors that have led to the decline of steel making industry would be lower labour cost in LEDC’s and the larger amount of compertition between each countries. Also another reason would be a large demand from light industy to make a wide range of consumer goods for MEDC’s.

The factors that have led to the decline of steel-making industry is, transport and market because it’s important for british steel to be able to access other market’s outside the UK, as big steel using industries like shipbuilding. Labour is another factor which need’s to be concerned as statistics prove that higly skilled workers are declining compared to previous years.

there has been a decline in the stell-making industry because they sell it cheaper in other parts of the world for example in China

Well i think the factors that have led to the decline of steel - making industry is that steel-making has to compete big named global markets which may make steel-making not good as in may they are not secured and good goods to make steel-making good but it still won`t be secure i reckon

A decent effort people well done! From the posts so far I think we could make some improvements. Remember, when you answer this question…

    (1) State where in the UK this secondary manufacturing is located.
    (2) Explain what events caused the decline in steelmaking here, we looked at…

    Competition from abroad
Loss of market in the UK
    Reduction in local energy supply
    Reduction in local raw materials

In your answers you should perhaps think about explaining why each of these factors resulted in a decline in the manufacture of steel making. Good luck!

the factors that have led to the decline of steel making industries are the workforces are going downto below 4000. Nowadays raw materials like coal, rock salt and gymsim are operated on a lower scale than before. Too much is being used up.

The MEDC i have studied is Teeside, a heavy industry site. Teeside has faced a decline in the steel-making. One is that labour costs are low in LEDC such as china which allows them to have an overall lower price for steel.

Also raw materials such as coal have declined so the energy needed to manufacture the raw materials isnt readily available :)

An example of a site that has declined in steel-making industry is Teeside. I think the industry in Teeside declined because of more completion from other company. In countries such as China, they were able to manufacture the steel for a much cheaper price which meant more competition. Also there was a a reduction in local energy supplies and raw material. This is meant that the industry were limited on the amount of goods they could manufacture. Another factor was labour. There was less people to work in the factory because most of the jobs people choose were dominated by tertiary industries.

The UK secondary manufacturing industry for making Steel is located on Teeside. There have been a number of factors which have led to the decline in the steel making industry. There has competiton abroad for example china produces steel much more cheaply than Britain because it’s workforce are paid lower wages. Another reason is that the local raw materials have been running out. Without the raw materials it is impossible to make steel. This has meant that many factories have had to pay a lot of money to transport the raw materials to the factory. Another reason is that the local energy has been running out. Without energy there isn’t enough power to convert the raw materials into goods. So this has meant factories have had to spend a lot of money to transport sources of energy back to the factories. Finally the loss of market in the UK is another factor. Industy needing steel will export it from China because it is much more cheaper than buying it from the UK.

Teeside is an example of a heavy industry like… a steel making industry. The future of steelmaking is not secure. Labour is another factor which needs to be concerned. A reason is energy has been running out. We are relying on them. Without energy factories wont work and electricity will be out. Without raw materials it is impossible to make steel which factories need to make goods and sell to countires like China =)

This secondary manufacturer is located in Teeside,UK. One factor leading to the decline in the steel making industry is competition abroad because China produces steel more cheaply and pay their workforce lower wages. Another factor is local raw materials is running out. WIthout energy the comanies can’t produce the raw materials into goods.

i think that the factory that have made decline of steel making industry in china where steel is cheeper. where they are well paid and also have access to raw material well as Britian they are running out of raw materials such as coal.products that are bought in the UK are cheeper.
